Grace Bible Fellowship began on August 15, 1982 when 15 people signed their names to a document, committing to start a local church. 

For more than a year the church met at the home of one of its members. In 1984 the church purchased its current location at 15 West 21 Street and spent 5 months renovating the former Donato Salvage yard. 

Pastor Joseph R. Basile, Jr. was pastor at the time the church was founded and continues to serve as the senior pastor.  He recalls, “We started with a handful of people and a burden to reach the lost. The Lord has been very good in answering our prayers and allowing us to see changed lives.”

The mission of Grace Bible Fellowship is “to glorify God through worship, evangelism, and discipleship until our Lord comes again.” 
Many people in Bayonne will remember seeing the name Grace Bible Fellowship on the back of gospel tracts distributed on Broadway.

At Grace Bible Fellowship we believe we have an obligation to share the gospel message
-that Jesus Christ came to save sinners-
with everyone we can. 
All of us are sinners with the need of a savior. 

At Grace Bible Fellowship the preaching emphasizes the supreme authority of the Word of God. 
The Gospel according to John states, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.’”

Even though it has been many years since the last scrap metal and newspapers were brought into the old warehouse on 21 Street, Pastor Basile believes that Grace Bible Fellowship continues to function as a salvage operation. 
“We are here to salvage souls. In a world that is lost and dying, we bring the message of eternal life through Christ.  No one is really able to live life fully until they are ready to die and stand before Almighty God.”
